2025 Season Preview

Registration

2025 - Summer Registration

This registration is for all ages 5 - 15 for Moorhead Youth Baseball. Registration deadline is Saturday, March 1st, 2025. There is a family maximum expenditure of $1,000. If your total registration will be more than the family max, please email the office for a discount code. Due to limitations in the registration settings, the site will not automatically limit the amount.

We will be using the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth age chart. You will register for the age your player will be as of May 1st, 2025. You will only be allowed to register for the correct age according to the Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth age chart. Any player wishing to play at a different age group will need to appeal to the baseball committee. Please email the office to start the process.

Registration Deadlines:

Travel Registration: February 15, 2025: For all players trying out for a travel team
Red River Valley League: March 1, 2025: For all players participating in league
5/6U Registration: April 30, 2025

Ages:

If a player would like to try out for travel baseball, the player must register for the appropriate age using the Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken age chart and indicate their interest in travel during registration.

Ages 5/6 (Registration deadline is May 1st)

Game and practice days will be Monday and Wednesday evenings. Games will be against other Moorhead teams.
Teams will be formed based on teammate preferences then school/geography
Season begins the first week of June and runs through the end of July.
Teams will practice together and run through drills and skill stations.
Coach pitch league. This is not T-Ball.
The baseball used is the Easton Soft Stitch cloth ball. It is slightly lighter than a baseball and much softer to ensure player safety.
Jersey and cap are provided. The only required equipment is a baseball glove and batting helmet. Optional equipment is white baseball pants, rubber or molded cleats, batting gloves.

RRVL (7-15U):

The Red River Valley league combines teams from Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, and surrounding communities. Games are scheduled in Fargo, West Fargo, or Moorhead with the potential of playing in DGF, Hawley, Kindred, & Casselton. You can select either Intermediate or Advanced when registering. Unless we have a pre-submitted team roster, teams will be formed by the coaches based on player experience and skill level into American League team and National League teams.
Team will have two games per week and are encouraged to hold at least one practice per week as well. Another option is to hold a practice before a 7:30 scheduled game.
NO REGULAR SEASON FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES FOR ANY AGE DIVISION (this does not apply to Travel teams or optional tournaments)
RRVL teams play approximately a 20 game interlocking league schedule with Moorhead, Fargo, West Fargo and surrounding area teams.
Required equipment is glove, batting helmet, rubber or molded cleats (metal is allowed 13-15U), white pants with black side piping. Optional equipment includes bat, batting gloves,

Game Nights (Red River Valley League):

5U & 6U: Monday & Wednesday
7U: Monday & Wednesday
8U: Tuesday & Thursday
9U & 10U: Monday & Wednesday
11U & 12U: Tuesday & Thursday
13U: Monday and/or Wednesday
14/15U: Monday through Thursday (schedule will be released in April, pending field availability)

Season Tentative Start & End Dates (Red River Valley League):

May 12 - July 30: 7U, 9U, & 10U
May 13 - July 31: 8U, 11U & 12U
May 19 - July 30: 13U
May 20 - July 31: 14/15U
June 2 - July 31: 5/6U

Rainout/League Cancelation Dates: (Ages: 7-15U):

If there are two or more games canceled between May 12-29, a make up game will be added to the schedule on Sunday, June 22.
If there are two or more games canceled between June 2-26, a make up game will be added to the schedule on Sunday, July 13.

Red River Valley League Playoffs (Ages: 10-15U):

There are no playoffs for ages 5-9U.
Playoff dates may not be displayed on the original (Sports Connect) schedule. A bracket will be released no later than July 14th on Exposure Events and sent to all participants. Game times and dates will be similar to normal league nights.
10U & 13U: July 28 & 30
11U, 12U, & 14/15U: July 29 & 31

Team Assignments & Game Schedule

After registration closes on March 1, teams will be formed, and rosters finalized. Notifications will be sent by MYB and the coach. Rosters are typically released by the end of March.
Game schedules will be set in April.
During registration, players can request specific coaches or teammates (RRVL only). While we try to keep teams together year after year, requests are not guaranteed. We recommend confirming with the coach to ensure you're on the desired roster. Also, verify the skill division your team plans to join so you can select the correct option during registration.

TRAVEL TEAMS (available for ages 9 thru 15): (If interested in trying out, please indicate so during registration)

We will have a dedicated AAA travel team for ages 9 - 15. These teams will go through a tryout process, will stay together all season and will play a travel schedule of 35-45 games and 4 - 6 tournaments.

If numbers allow, we will have a AA travel team for each age. These teams will go through a tryout process, will stay together all season and will play a RRVL schedule with the possibility of adding travel games along with 2-4 tournaments.

Must go through a try-out process
Must be registered by February 15th
Those selected to a team will incur an additional fee to cover tournament costs.
High level of commitment
9&10 YO: 60' bases, 46' mound; no leading off, can steal once the ball crosses the plate
11&12 YO: 70' bases, 50' mound; leading off is allowed (may vary depending on tournament)
13,14, 15 YO: 90' bases, 60'6" mound (13U may vary depending on tournament)
AAA
Will play 35-45 games, including weekend tournaments
Weekday doubleheaders
Season start/end: April-July
Can expect to play in 4-6 tournaments, including State Tournament if qualified for
AA
Will play RRVL schedule
2-4 tournaments
Possibility to add travel games during the week

Coaches/Team Managers:

If you're interested in coaching or being a team manager with Moorhead Youth Baseball, please select the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Parent Coordinator option when getting to the team staff portion.
All coaches will have the opportunity to create their own teams by submitting a list of players to the office by March 1st. All other players will be placed on teams with consideration given to competition/skill level, school affiliation, and neighborhoods.
When filling out the 2024 summer player registration, please select the volunteer role to show you're interested in coaching.
In order to complete the volunteer role, you will need to be logged into your account, from there you will need to go to view account and on the left-hand side of the page you will see 'volunteer role', after selecting volunteer role you will see an option to select 'find volunteer roles', once selected please follow the steps provided. If you have already completed the summer player registration, you can still go back into your account and select this option.
This MUST be completed as ALL communication will come from the volunteer contact list.

Players registered for the 2025 season may use The Sandlot for free.
